Career Launch Target – Frequently Asked Questions
PAIRIN’s new Career Launch Target helps individuals develop the skills needed to launch into a job or career they love. The target is designed to help individuals prepare for a broad range of careers, as opposed to very specific job specializations, like an accountant or doctor. In addition, all attributes in this target are aligned directly to PAIRIN’s skill curriculum, allowing you to easily map an individual’s gaps to the exact courses they can take to develop those skills. The new target is different from, and will eventually replace the existing Readiness Target.
PAIRIN’s existing Readiness Target includes 20 skills that each have three to six sub-skills. The parent skills have ranges, but sub-skills do not. This makes it difficult to determine what skills to focus development efforts on, and it does not clearly map to the PAIRIN skills curriculum. In contrast, the Career Launch Target includes all sub-skills with ranges that map directly to specific skills and PAIRIN’s curriculum. The ranges are smaller which makes the target more precise so you can easily see where an individual has opportunities to grow.
The new Career Launch target is based on strong research presented in 2017 into which specific soft skills and mindsets are considered to be important across a broad range of jobs that represent 82% of all jobs in the U.S. workforce. The results of this research were cross-walked into PAIRIN attributes. Then, individual attribute ranges were based on the specific ranges that exist from O*NET data on these jobs. As a result, this new target has a solid research foundation based on the critical skills needed to be better prepared to launch into new jobs or careers. Existing clients will have the option to keep The Readiness Target in their account, however, we strongly encourage all clients to transition to the Career Launch Target as soon as possible. All new clients will have the Career Launch Target only.
