The Opportunity Project Event Selects PAIRIN to Present for Second Year – Career Pathways Tool Helps Veterans Identify Transferable Skills for Job Placement

For the second consecutive year, PAIRIN has been selected to participate in The Opportunity Project event which takes place today at the U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in collaboration with the Department of Commerce. This exclusive event will bring together technologists, local leaders and government employees to work together to increase economic growth across the country. The project focuses on creating access to tools that help individuals and their families succeed by connecting them to critical resources such as jobs, affordable housing and quality education.

This year, PAIRIN has been invited to present PAIRIN Pathways, which is an extension of its 2016 project with The U.S. Department of Labor and the Workforce Data Initiative. Through a collaboration with The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), PAIRIN Pathways is focused on helping military veterans and their spouses identify job opportunities based on their strengths, personal desires, experience and transferable skills. This initiative is focused on placing veterans in jobs with a living wage to aid in our country’s epidemic of homeless veterans, of which The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development estimates that nearly 40,000 veterans are homeless on any given night with up to 13,000 unsheltered and living on the streets. By identifying optimal career matches for these individuals upon their return to civilian life, PAIRIN is supporting the VA’s committed goal of ending Veteran homelessness. You can watch the live stream of The Opportunity Project’s Demo Day here from 12 – 3 P.M. EST today, November 29, 2017.

PAIRIN Pathways provides a platform for veterans to access detailed information on over 600 careers that can be filtered by individual preferences and desired location, education requirements, job tasks, salaries and much more. Additionally, the built-in cross-industry mapping helps identify what soft and hard skills the individuals may need to develop along with a direct link to PAIRIN’s online soft skills curriculum, including over 300 online micro-lessons designed to develop 54 different soft skills. These online lessons are personalized for each veteran based on their current skills and career goals, allowing them the opportunity to instantly access training on critical soft skills such as creativity, decision-making, grit and much more.

PAIRIN has partnered with Care Partners Plus to pilot this approach in five VA hospitals in early 2018 with hopes of expanding it to reach a significant amount of the veteran population next year to guide individuals toward the experiences, skills and programs that might accelerate their success.

PAIRIN Pathways is the first ever career exploration tool that respects the winding paths most individuals’ professional lives take, and its online curriculum is the most comprehensive soft skills development program in existence. States, businesses and institutions can seamlessly integrate PAIRIN Pathways with any dataset or existing website for maximum customization and flexibility.
