Product Updates

December 2018

In the spirit of continuous improvement, PAIRIN will make some updates to our dashboard, algorithms and viewable content on December 12, 2018. These changes will modernize our terms and definitions, align data points with relevant historical and new science/research, and respond to customer feedback and requests.

Update #1

Thinking Style Becomes First Icon

WHAT: Based on popular demand and client feedback, we are making Thinking Style the first (far left) icon in the “Top Qualities” console display, which is in PAIRIN Personal dashboards, PAIRIN Pathways, PAIRIN Hiring and PAIRIN Mini. It will be followed by most intense Driver, highest Emotional Intelligence competency and then leading Virtue Class (left to right).

The four Thinking Style icons correlate to Cooperative-PracticalObjective-AnalyticalImaginative-Inspirational and Intuitive-Conceptual.

WHY: Thinking Styles are characteristic ways of processing information and handling tasks and are critically important in behavioral analysis. They reveal how people acquire knowledge, organize thoughts, form views and opinions, apply personal value, plan, decide, solve problems and express themselves.

WHO: PAIRIN Pro users will still be able to view General Styles, but PAIRIN Personal, Hiring and Mini users will no longer be able to see top general styles for themselves or their organizations.

Update #2

Four General Style Algorithms Updated

WHAT: We are updating algorithms for AssertivenessSociabilityIndividuality and Well-Being.

WHY: The new algorithms better align with how the latest science and new research define these quality scales.

WHO: All existing surveys will be re-scored based on the new algorithms. The most significant changes will be to Assertiveness and Well-Being, where we estimate 24% of existing surveys to increase in Assertiveness, 8% to decrease in Assertiveness and 35% to increase in Well-Being. There will be minor to no impact on scores for ComplianceDynamismIndividuality or Sociability.

Update #3

Cooperative-Practical Changed to Collaboration and Teamwork in Social-Emotional (SE) View

WHAT: In the Social-Emotional (SE) View, Cooperative-Practical will be replaced with Collaboration and Teamwork.

WHY: Cooperative-Practical is also displayed as a Thinking Style now, so for consistency across views and to avoid confusion, we are changing this to the Collaboration and Teamwork attribute in the SE view.

Update #4

Compliance Removed from General Style View

WHATCompliance will no longer be displayed in PAIRIN Pro’s Measure tab, under General Style Views. Compliance will still be accessible under the view for all scores.

WHY: To better align with recent research on personality types, Compliance will no longer be recognized as a General Style. Instead, it will now simply be an attribute.

Update #5

Temperance Name Changed to Moderation

WHAT: The term Temperance is updated to Moderation in the system.

WHY: This change will modernize the term and make it more understandable in today’s world.

June 2018

PAIRIN is excited to add two new driver quality icons. These drivers have been available and tested in the content portion of the system for years, and to create a more consistent experience across all of our users, we have now added icons and made them available in PAIRIN Personal interface. See below for details on the icons, including tips and insights for you to access to support conversations with any individual who may now see a new driver in their dashboard.

Update #1

New Driver Quality Icon: Microscope

What: This quality has been available and tested in the PAIRIN system for years, but this is the first time it has been made available in the PAIRIN Personal interface.

Description: I’ll take responsibility, ask for little and value others a lot.

Insight: Microscopes are sensitive and introspective. Their behavior toward others is gentle, obliging and appreciative. They are not showy, flashy or pushy; rather, they are unassuming, reserved, and eager to avoid conflict. They tend to be harder on themselves than most people.

Update #2

New Driver Quality Icon: Blaze

What: Like the Microscope quality, this quality has also been available and tested in the PAIRIN system for years, but this is the first time it has been made available in the PAIRIN Personal interface.

Description: Let me win; I’ll overcome opposition with force, if necessary.

Insight: People with a high “Blaze” driver emphasize bold and enterprising behaviors. They can lead with clarity, persuasion and motivation—provided followers don’t feel threatened. Energetic, opinionated and usually outgoing, they aren’t driven to conform to boundaries and social norms.

January 2018

The PAIRIN team is excited to share some updates to our system with you. As always, we welcome your thoughts and feedback on product functionality, features and structure. The changes we are announcing today are the direct result of your feedback, our research and our continued commitment to evolving PAIRIN’s products to be the best they can be!

Update #1

Refinement of the Creativity & Imagination Attribute

What: Formally this compound skill included the five components: CreativityAestheticismImaginative-InspirationalIndividuality and Originality. Cumulative data analysis led our research team removed Originality from the measure.

Why: The inclusion of Originality in the original algorithm put inordinate weighting on aspects already taken into account by the Imaginative-Inspirational and Individuality attribute components. This inordinately docked those with higher intensities of Objective-Analytical or Cooperative-Practical.

PAIRIN’s description of Originality: The ability to invent or independently conceive of ideas, methods, or products of the first order (underived), regardless of their usefulness.

Originality is not independently required for the occurrence of Creativity & Imagination. While Originality can lead to Creativity, not all Creativity is original.

Update #2

Refinement of the Flexibility & Adaptability Attribute

What: Formally, this compound skill consisted of seven components. Change, PerceptivityEquilibriumStress ToleranceRelationshipWell-Being and Resiliency. Cumulative data analysis led our research team to limit the components to the first four components. We found that the newer algorithm adequately reflects of Flexibility & Adaptability and simultaneously brings the benefit of increased simplicity.

PAIRIN’s description of Flexibility & Adaptability: To adjust to situational needs. To meet the challenges of new roles, paradigms, and environments with a balance of core beliefs and appropriate reaction to change.

Update #3

Self-Concept to Self-Alignment

What: This is an attribute name change only; the former attribute Self-Concept becomes Self-Alignment.

WhySelf-Alignment is a more representative of what the attribute measures. Self-Concept was overly inclusive. Here are the two two terms contrasted:

1) Self-Concept shapes your answer to, “Who am I?” It is multifaceted and far reaching, and encompasses all of the self-constructs such as identity, image, esteem, worth, confidence, efficacy and others. It springs from and/or influences: a) your existential or ‘being’ self, b) Emotional Self-Awareness, c) Self-Assessment and d) your social interactions, roles and comparisons with others.

2) Self-Alignment is the extent to your attitudes, appearance, actions and social roles are in line with your plan. This attribute operates within the overall framework of “self-concept.”

PAIRIN’s description of Self-Alignment: The level of agreement between your self-image and how you would like to be. It is distinct from but indicative of self-esteem.

Update #4

Bulldog to Tugboat

The Bulldog icon has been changed to tugboat to better represent the persistence driver and avoid conveying related dominance or aggressiveness.

Update #5
