Whil grew up in Cary, North Carolina, and went to North Carolina State University for Mechanical Engineering. There, he had the opportunity to serve as the student body president as "The Pirate Captain," and interned with General Motors Fuel Cell Activities for three summers. He still has hope that fuel cell vehicles are the future! After, he went on to grad school at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and then worked for the Hawaii Natural Energy Institute.
Since high school, I've embraced my nerdom, and a love for computer science and programming. I've started three small programming startups and from early 2016 to early 2018 I served as a co-founder and senior programmer at SafetySpot.com, which allowed me and my wife to move to Colorado.
Why PAIRIN? Myriad reasons! I'll touch on two. First, the service and product have meaning, which helps people better themselves - having a positive impact on my work is essential. And secondly, the team seems fantastic across the board - very friendly, very welcoming and very good at what they do. Such an environment allows for and fosters great work.
Who/what has been your greatest teacher? I think naming one's greatest teacher would do a horrible disservice to all the wonderful mentors I've had in my life. This has spanned the gamut of sports coaches never letting me give up, personal advisers pointing me in the right direction and professional mentors encouraging me and pointing me in the right direction. I love learning, improving and helping those around me, and there have been some amazing people in my life who have helped me get where I am today!
Things I love: God, my beautiful wife, my family, and my friends and spans to my hobbies - hiking, camping, snowboarding, photography, solving complicated problems (embrace the nerdom!) and having fun with my friends.
